About Us
WELCOME TO HOMETOWN GIRL, HON! We are a real store (that's bricks and mortar, e-shoppers) on an authentic Main Street (36th Street, aka "The Avenue") in a real neighborhood (historic Hampden, that slice-of-the-past neighborhood that grew up along the banks of Baltimore's Jones Falls River). In our location in the former Cavacos Pharmacy, Hometown Girl blends city pride, crustacean madness and an original assortment of gifts for every age. Baltimore Magazine said it best when they honored Hometown Girl in Hampden for "Best Baltimore Souvenirs" (Best of Baltimore, 1999). In an issue where editors waxed poetic about rowhouses, Bawlamerese and local pride, B-Mag cited the store's "hip local postcards (including Greg Otto's handsome cityscapes), books (including the kicky new city guide Wish You Were Here!), wind-up toys, clothing, and assorted other mementos," and proclaimed it "an inspired selection." Since opening our original Hometown Girl store at Baltimore's Harborplace in 1981, we have been celebrating the food, folks and traditions of Hometown Baltimore. Of course, our website is just a small sampling of the great stuff you'll see in the store, so we invite you to visit us at Hometown Girl and watch this space for our ever-expanding selection! TELL US WHAT YOU THINK! Please email us your questions, comments, feedback at: htgbaltimore@aol.com We hope to hear from you soon! Thanks! **Speaking of Main Streets, for more information visit: Hampden Village Main Street's website |
